SPORTSMANSHIP

We all like to support the thought of sportsmanship, especially in our youth.  At the YRHA Yellowstone Slide, I do not know if everyone was aware of it, but we had a very good demonstration of true sportsmanship.  Four youth (Libby Hendrix, Mary Dunkel, Secora Richardson, and Nicole Harvey) tied for first in the NRHA Youth 13 & under class.  Three of those youth had already won an NRHA plaque and they chose to give the plaque for this class to the fourth reiner and also the first place prize.  I think we should all congratulate these youth on their demonstration of what sportsmanship is all about.

CRAZY MOUNTAIN SUMMER SLIDE

Get out your skid boots, there’s a show coming up! The Crazy Mountain Summer Slide is just around the corner.

You’ll want to be at Anderson Training Stables in Wilsall September 5-7 to participate in this $6400 money added show that is both MRHA- and YRHA-approved for year end awards. This is your last chance to defend your standings – or move up – and have a chance to win great prizes and Morrison bronzes, too. The show will be judged by Allen Mitchels of Michigan City, IN.

Mitchels has judged numerous World Championships, European Championships, the Quarter Horse Congress, Dixie National Championship, and major Performance Futurities and Maturities in over a dozen different countries worldwide – and in September, he’s coming to Wilsall, MT!

Plan on arriving Thursday evening so you’ll be ready for the Ladies and Gentlemens’ classes first thing Friday morning. These classes present a great opportunity to get you and your horse warmed up and ready to compete. The Green Rookies, Green Horses, and Three-Year-Olds will all be competing on Friday – come and see who and what’s coming up!

All the usual slate of club and NRHA classes will be offered on Saturday and Sunday and if you think you’re going to go hungry, think again. The Bank Bar will once again provide breakfast and lunch and the rumor is, there will be a huge BBQ and music for everyone on Saturday night. Stay tuned for more on this!

All the necessary forms are on the Shows page of the MRHA website. Send your entries to the Show Secretary, Barbara Williams (PO Box 3013, Hayden, ID 83835), and do it soon – the sooner the better. Reserve your stalls through Jan Anderson (406-578-2122, janwilsall@wispwest.net) and do that soon, too! If you have questions about the show, or want to be a sponsor, contact Jim Gelhaus (406-578-2325, brackettcreekqh@wispwest.net).

See you in Wilsall in September!
